Manager E&I - PM6

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) function for PM6, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems.

• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability, availability, and overall machine performance.

• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of breakdowns involving electrical systems, drives, motors, MCCs, PLCs, DCS, control circuits, QCS, instrumentation, and automation systems.

• Ensure effective maintenance and calibration of field instruments, sensors, transmitters, control valves, and other critical instrumentation systems.

• Plan, coordinate, and execute shutdowns, major maintenance activities, overhauls, and improvement projects with minimum impact on production.

• Lead the E&I team, including manpower planning, task allocation, performance management, competency development, and technical coaching of engineers, supervisors, and technicians.

• Coordinate closely with Production, Mechanical Maintenance, Maintenance Planning, Projects, and other departments to ensure timely resolution of issues and smooth operation of PM6.

• Drive reliability improvement initiatives, including MTBF/MTTR improvement, breakdown elimination, condition-based maintenance, critical equipment identification, and implementation of permanent corrective actions.

• Monitor and improve key E&I maintenance KPIs, equipment availability, downtime, maintenance cost, and execution effectiveness.

• Lead the implementation and improvement of TBM, CBM, RCA, 5S, WCM, and other reliability and maintenance practices within the E&I function.

• Ensure effective management of E&I spare parts, including critical spare identification, stock availability, consumption monitoring, inventory optimization, and coordination with Supply Chain/Procurement.

• Support budgeting and cost control for E&I maintenance, including annual maintenance budgets, Capex requirements, and cost-saving initiatives.

• Lead installation, commissioning, modification, and performance improvement of electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems.

• Ensure all E&I maintenance and project activities comply with approved engineering standards, safety requirements, electrical isolation/LOTO procedures, and statutory and audit requirements.

• Maintain effective maintenance documentation, equipment history, technical records, drawings, procedures, and reports in accordance with company requirements.

• Evaluate technical issues and vendor proposals and coordinate with OEMs/service providers for specialized troubleshooting, commissioning, training, and technical support.

• Identify opportunities for energy optimization, automation improvements, digitalization, and reduction of operational losses and downtime.

• Ensure effective succession planning and development of E&I resources to build technical capability and reduce dependency on individual resources.

• Participate in management reviews and provide regular updates on E&I performance, major breakdowns, reliability risks, projects, maintenance plans, and improvement initiatives.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and people-management skills with the ability to lead a multidisciplinary E&I team in a continuous-process manufacturing environment.

• Strong technical knowledge of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, and control systems.

• Hands-on technical understanding of PLC, DCS, VFD/AC drives, MCCs, motors, QCS, control systems, field instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.

• Strong troubleshooting, RCA, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

• Ability to interpret and review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, control schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, and instrumentation datasheets.

• Strong maintenance planning, shutdown management, project execution, and contractor/vendor management skills.

• Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance practices, condition monitoring, preventive/predictive maintenance, WCM, and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Strong understanding of electrical safety, LOTO, PTW systems, and applicable maintenance and compliance standards.

• Strong communication, coordination, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.

• Ability to manage maintenance budgets, prioritize resources, and balance reliability requirements with cost and production objectives.

Experience & Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory/management or team-lead role, managing E&I maintenance activities and technical resources.

• Experience in paper machine electrical and automation systems, drives, PLC/DCS, QCS, instrumentation, and machine control systems will be an added advantage.

• Proven experience in leading shutdowns, reliability improvement initiatives, major maintenance activities, and E&I projects.
