Tapeline Operator

Position: Tape Film Line Operator

Reports to: Shift In-charge / Team Lead Tape Line
Location: Port Qasim Plant, Karachi

Employment: Permanent

Key Accountabilities

Operate and optimize the tape film line to safely deliver right-first-time film to meet Co.’s productivity, quality, and OEE targets.

Sets and controls process parameters, executes changeovers, performs in-process checks and autonomous maintenance, and records production data, while adhering to Co.’s SHE and WCM standards to minimize waste and downtime. Other responsibilities include:

    • Start up, operate and shut down the tape film line per SOP, SHE, and LOTO.
    • Set/monitor process parameters (extruder temps/pressures, haul-off speed, stretch/oven zones) to meet spec.
    • Execute changeovers (grade/width), die/winder prep, and first-article checks.
    • Perform in-process quality checks (thickness/micron, width, haze/visual defects); record and segregate non-conforming output.
    • Load raw materials/master batch; ensure batch traceability and correct labeling.
    • Record production data in log/ERP; escalate deviations and support root-cause actions.
    • Conduct Autonomous Maintenance (AM) checks, 5S housekeeping; support PM with Maintenance.
    • Comply with WCM routines (tier huddles, kaizen actions) and site safety rules.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • DAE (Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical) or Intermediate with significant experience and relevant training.
  • Min. 02 years’ operating plastic film extrusion/stretching (BOPP/CPP/tape/lamination) preferred; strong apprentices/fresh DAE considered.
  • Basic computer literacy (ERP/data entry), ability to read SOPs/work orders.

Functional Skills

  • Machine setup & changeovers; thickness/winder controls; basic troubleshooting (gels, neck-in, wrinkles, edge defects).
  • Use of gauges/scanners (micrometer, thickness gauge), sampling & documentation.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical awareness for AM; understanding of 5S and SPC basics.

Soft Skills: Safety-first mindset, attention to detail, discipline, teamwork and clear communication skills, learning/continuous improvement orientation.
